Time is money when you own a business, and that's true if you need to install a new phone line, too. How long will it take? You can have an Australian phone line installed for your business in as little as a few days, depending on the type you need. Following is a discussion of each type of phone line installation and the time each will take.
Phone lines ISDN 2
This is the most common of phone line installations, digital. It uses paired channels, meaning that phone lines are installed in multiples of two. It'll take between 10 and 15 working days to do installation, and you can add DID ranges or Line Hunt if you wish. For more information, take a look here.
10/20/30 ISDN lines
10/20/30 IDSN phone lines have multiple channels, utilizing 10, 20, or 30 lines in each group; midsized to large businesses do well with this type of set up, but it will take a little bit for installation, between 20-25 business days. PSTN-enabled phone lines
Small and medium enterprises, or SMEs, use PSTN phone lines, also called "Plain Old Television Service" or POTs lines. These are standard Australian phone setups. ADSL or Line Hunt capabilities can be added if needed, and installation wait time is short, between three and 10 business days.
Line Hunt installation
When you install Line Hunt capabilities, you can automatically "pass" calls from one phone number to several connected lines. When someone calls your business, it will ring through to each phone individually, one at a time, until it gets picked up. You can add this capability when you first get your phone system installed, or you can add it later if you need to.
PBX, Hosted
PBX hosted lines can be added almost instantly if you already have ADSL installed. Delivering the equipment will take some time, but after that, installation is easy. It should take between 3 to 8 business days for complete set up.
IDSN, Multiline
Multiline IDSN is somewhat the same as IDSN 10/20/30, but simpler. You can start with just a few lines (10 minimum), and then add single lines as needed instead of groups of 10, as you must with IDSN 10/20/30. Wait times for installation are about 20 to 40 working days.
