The numbers have talked, and Amazon's contender in the tablet P.C comparison wars has taken the number 2 from Samsung. Market researchers say the Kindle Fire will very probably settle in that spot "and perhaps even whittle away further at the iPad 2's share of market.
Apple and the contenders
If you have been following the tablet PC comparison wars for a while, you'd know the way the Apple iPad 2 eats its competition for breakfast. The slate maker commands a big 65.6% share of the tablet PC market, frustrating everybody else's tries to grab a bit of the pie. Industry researchers say that though many have been proactively competing with Apple by releasing their own tablet Personal computer models, infrequently coming as near to emulating the iPad itself, none has come close to actually competing head to head with it in the market.
The previous number 2, Samsung as an example, released a tablet so closely looking like the iPad that it's still having big issues
Game changer
Amazon, on the other hand, levelled the field moderately by offering the Kindle Fire at a slight loss, luring customers with a very attractive selling price of US$ 199. The promotional strategy has paid up quite nicely, with ecommerce giant reporting quadrupled sales for its Kindle line last Black Friday. So far, Amazon has demonstrated it's possible to punch a hole in Apple's lion's chunk of the market and many believe this is only just the start of a new phase in the tablet COMPUTER comparison wars. Will others follow Amazon's example and start offering tablet Computers at a smaller price range? we shall see which way the market leans in the following couple of months.
