Is a Unified Communications Certificate Crucial For My Business?

By Emily Collins

A Unified Communications Certificate is useful for offices that operate on business telephone systems. With this communication system, users can make calls via a transfer of VoIP packets and share information over a network with other users, regardless of location, as long as they are calling from an internet connection.

The upside of this is that employees can work wherever, whenever they need; the downside is the potential leak of information. With a UCC, administrators over the network can decide how much information is shared between the network users. In addition to this, if several employees are representing your company, you can be safe in the knowledge that all users have an authenticated signature when conversing with customers.

Companies and offices that used unified communications are undoubtedly advised to attain a UCC. This is because using a network that allows for the unification of instant messaging, emails, calls and video conferencing, amongst others, faces more more security treats than a singular communication network. A UCC, can give your company the authentication that customers need to ensure your identity, provide a more professional, unified image, and guard any information discussed over your network against those that may try to infiltrate and steal it.

Once you've decided that your company communications require a UCC, the next step is deciding which UCC you should purchase. There are many different organisations out there providing different options for Unified Communications Certificates, from multiple domain names and sub-domains to smaller singular domains.

The first thing you should discover is whether you require several names or just the one name for your business or office. It might be worth purchasing several domain names with the differing co.uk and .com names to ensure the maximum numbers of users are redirected to your site if your company is an international brand or possesses a similar name to a popular bad. A single domain purchase is perhaps enough for your needs if you have a single, easily memorable name.
